i am so glad this made its way around the internet and back to me.  modernvoodoo: ‘vokkaab: also from jigsaw #2, still true as ever, even when you’re old, even so many years later.’ 1990. fuck. so depressing to still be having to defend to other punks why i want to play with other women, or be stoked that there are other women in bands on a bill (or more usually, bummed that there aren’t.) people actively work against this stuff, like my roommate is doing a band with a female singer and just turned down playing a fest with a snort of derision because it had an ‘at least one woman per band’ policy. if it appears that someone is scrabbling around to try and find bands with women in, or feels like the lineup sucks, then surely this is even more proof that we need this shit to happen. all around me dudes wanna know why you’d wanna ‘reduce yourself’ to being a ‘girl band.’ and how it should just be about good bands. yes, ‘should’, but this isn’t an ideal world, not for me, and i refuse to pretend it is. a.k.a tobi still rules and you still doooon’t fuuuucking geeeet it.
